貓和狗移民有什麼分別？

The answer is yes.  For my last 12 years of experience, some of the EU countries don’t have the AVID scanner that is necessary to read the Hong Kong microchip and this might cause major issues to clear custom.  For all pet transportation or pet relocations our pet movers team will put ISO microchip implanted into your pet.


Is your  pet allowed in the cabin during pet transportation or pet relocation?
KLM, Air French, Lufthansa, and Korean airline do allow pets in the cabin during pet relocation and pet transportation.  You have to use soft pet travel bags, pet travel bag and pet together must under 8kg.  Travel bag size cannot exceed 46cm wide.  


What do you need to prepare for your pet relocation or pet transportation to other country?
No matter what countries your pets are going to, rabies vaccines, annual vaccines, rabies titer test(for some country), internal and external parasites(for some countries), and health certificate are necessary.   Vet health check before travel is also important as first step.  Learn the import requirements of the country.  Contact as many airlines as you can  to find the most suitable airline for this journey.  Have the travel kennel ready few months in advance so that your pets can get used to the travel kennel.  Apply import permit for the overseas country in advance.  As soon as you know your pet travel day, book quarantine in advance to make sure the destination country is aware of your pets arrival.  Make sure all vaccines are up to date.


How do you manage if your pets are under medication?
Because it is very important for pets to take medicine on time, but because the departure time does not match the normal timetable for taking medication.  We will try our best to arrange the departure time to different airlines to get as close to the timetable as possible.  After the pet arrives, if the time for the next medication has passed too long, we can arrange a connecting flight and have a pet transportation agent to give the  pets the required medication during the transfer process.

Our government AFCD does not accept rabies vaccine for several countries that require that the pets must leave Hong Kong for over 6 months.


How much money do I need to get my pet relocated to another country?
Different countries have different import requirements, USA, Canada, and EU countries only require fully vaccination and health certificate which cost about $3000.
Singapore and Indonesia required additional rabies titer test which cost about $6000.
Australia, New Zealand, takes 7 months for the process and require 10 days quarantine and many blood tests.  It cost about HKD20000 to set it up.


Is rabies vaccine safe?
There is always a small risk of side of effects from all the vaccines.  But for my over 10 years of experience, no dogs or cats have experienced any side effect symptoms after taken rabies vaccines.  But for dogs during pregnancy, the vet will not recommend taking any vaccines, it might harm the puppies.  


Can you relocate your pets to other country if they have kidney disorder, heart disease, or any symptoms of sickness?
A few days before your pets leave for your destination  country, the vet will examine their health issue to determine if they are fit to travel.  As long as your pet doesn’t have any disease that could pass to other animals which should allow the pets to fly.  If your pets has kidney disorder, heart disease, or any sickness issues, the vet will examine his actual situation to decide whether it is suitable for a long journey.


Do you need to feed your pets before departure?
All airlines suggest not to give any food 12 hours before take off.  The reason is because if the pets have eaten too much before boarding and after a long journey, they will have a lot of urine and feces in the travel box when they arrived.  This might cause bacteria growth and odor problems.  In fact, I personally recommend that if it is a short flight and depart from Hong Kong to Southeast Asian countries, you can give a small amount of food before flying.  An adult pets should hold their urine and feces for about 10 hours.  
However, if it is a long distance  flight, I personally suggest to avoid any food 10 hours before the take off, so as to avoid the spread of bacteria after arrival.  Of course, you must ask the veterinarian to consult your pet’s health issues before making any fasting.
